ASUS MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C) Goes Pre-Order

An interesting little device this, You can now pre-order ASUS’ latest Intel Atom Powered Android 4.4 tablet ‘MeMO Pad 7 (ME176C)’ in the US via Amazon. The tablet can be yours for $149 and will begin shipping from June 22nd. Specs-wise, the tablet sports a 7.0-inch 1280 x 800 IPS 10-point multi-touch display.

The product has a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z3745 quad-core processor, a 1GB DDR3 RAM, a 16GB go internal storage, a microSD card slot (up to 64GB), dual cameras (2MP front & 5MP rear with 1080p Full HD video capture), GPS & GLONASS, Miracast support, WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, built-in stereo speakers, a 15Wh Li-polymer battery and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS.

With 1GB ram, 16gb storage and 1280x800 screen, it's a budget-oriented tabled. But I learned a lesson and can tell you what I found out - never ever buy a low-dpi tablet/phone. Perhaps if it's only used for games and watching movies it's not that important, but for reading, high dpi make the usage comfort completely different. Once I got Nexus 10, I couldn't turn back. Even for big-screen phone 1920x1080 is an upgrade over 1280x720, so I think that FullHd/more should be some kind of standard for such tablets. Well, it will cost more, but I think it's better to pay a bit extra for a quality device that you won't make you look for an upgrade on the first day of using.
