ASUS Listed a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB

ASUS Listed a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti with 20 GB

When you visited the Support website from ASUS recently you might have noticed two not yet officially announced graphics cards from Nvidia, of which there were previously only rumors. In the product selection, in addition to the well-known GeForce RTX 3080 and the RTX 3060 Ti models, “GeForce RTX 3080 Ti 20G” and “GeForce RTX 3060 12GB” could be found for a short time.

Screenshots confirm the selection of GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GByte. ROG-STRIX-RTX3080TI-O20G-GAMING and ROG-STRIX-RTX3080TI-20G-GAMING as well as ROG-STRIX-RTX3060-O12G-GAMING and ROG-STRIX-RTX3060-12G-GAMING were listed in detail. If you go by the usual ASUS naming convention, the models labeled "020G" or "O12G" are overclocked (O = overclocking).

In contrast to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, which has been available since the beginning of this month, with 8 GB of GDDR6 memory on a 256-bit wide memory interface, a new GeForce RTX 3060 is to be fitted with 12 GB, with the RAM interface at 192 bits and the number of shader units are cut down. The reason is that the GeForce RTX 3060 should be based on the GA106 chip, while the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti and GeForce RTX 3070 use the larger GA104. The specifications of the GA106 graphics chip are still fairly unclear, but one can assume 3840 CUDA cores - significantly less than the 4864 CUDA cores of the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti.

The GeForce RTX 3060 with 12 GB will likely be presented at the traditional CES in North America early next month and will be available towards the end of January. In addition, a GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 instead of 12 GB is to arrive as well, which also uses the GA106 chip, but should be further trimmed. Here one calculates with 3584 instead of 3840 CUDA cores. Actually, this 6 GB graphics card should have appeared as a GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, but Nvidia has apparently decided otherwise. It is still unclear when the GeForce RTX 3060 with 6 GB will arrive.

Memory bus width (RAM interface) is the same like the 10 GB version...to me 20 GB of VRAM seems like a waste of memory without increasing the bus width...

These 10GB version of RTX 3080 shouldn't be released in first place, I personally expected RTX 3080 will come with 16GB or 20GB not 10GB

20GB will helps if you do rendering, not sure how much they help in gaming but let's see

Hope this helps

Thanks, Jura

Release date - late January 2021. Available to the average Joe for purchase, September 2026, right after the GeForce BFD 6080 is released.

Approximately the same time as the 5th wave of COVID-23 hits.

Personally I don't want to hear another single f*cking news story about either RTX or RX cards until they're actually proven to exist in the physical universe.

I'll drink to that. What really pisses me off is seeing these youtubers with 100-200k subscribers with three different varients of each card.
