It dramatically increases network capacity while reducing congestion, delivering higher performance for every WiFi 6E device.

RT-AXE7800 is also fully compatible with ASUS AiMesh. Users can easily expand their wireless network with AiMesh-compatible routers and enjoy powerful, flexible and seamless whole-home WiFi.

ASUS-exclusive Safe Browsing
The internet can contain inappropriate content, intrusive ads or other dangers and safety risks. The ASUS Safe Browsing feature in RT-AXE7800 helps block undesirable content in one tap—with no extra apps required. Its lightweight DNS-based filtering won't affect router performance. It can even filter explicit content from search engine results to help protect kids online.

Enhanced security anywhere
A free lifetime subscription to AiProtection Pro powered by Trend Micro provides commercial-grade network security with automatic, regularly updated security signatures to protect devices and personal data from internet threats.

When users are away from home, the ASUS Instant Guard mobile app provides one-tap secure internet access via RT-AXE7800, thanks to its encrypted VPN tunneling technology. This newly upgraded app even lets users easily share this worry-free network connection with family and friends through a URL link that can be added to an email or text message.

The built-in VPN server and VPN client support various security protocols including OpenVPN and the latest WireGuard. With VPN Fusion, one can also assign various devices to different VPN tunnels, while simultaneously keeping an ordinary internet connection for regular use, without interfering with the browsing experience of other users. This works even for devices that cannot run VPN software, like smart TVs and game consoles. One can set up and manage VPN connections via the easy-to-use ASUS Router mobile app or in the web browser interface.

Upgraded parental controls
The upgraded parental controls in RT-AXE7800 can make digital parenting more flexible and effortless. Parents can gain insight into their kids' online activity and customize settings for different age groups with the robust settings. Also, users can flexibly schedule internet access with one click, or grant extra online time to reward good behavior.

I needed to buy a new router this past summer. I got an Asus one, but I specifically avoided these Sauron's helmet models. Mine has only two antennae, so while it otherwise does sport the fancy gamer looks Asus seems to prefer, more or less, it's still more modest.
