ASUS Launches BIOS Updates 5th Gen Core Processor Support

ASUS today announced that all 9 Series motherboards offer support for 5th-generation Intel Core processors (Broadwell), assuring a quick, safe, and smooth upgrade - immediately. The easy-to-use ASUS USB BIOS Flashback or BIOS Updater tools enable users to update the UEFI BIOS quickly, unleashing the great performance of the latest high-performance CPUs.

ASUS 9 Series motherboards that include the renowned ASUS USB BIOS Flashback feature enable users to apply UEFI BIOS updates with incredible ease. This innovative tool downloads the latest BIOS to a USB flash drive, enabling users to update the award-winning ASUS UEFI BIOS quickly and easily. The motherboard does not even need to have a CPU or DRAM modules in place: users can simply connect the power supply, plug in their USB drive, press the USB BIOS Flashback or Reset button and then sit back and wait - there's nothing else to do.

For other ASUS 9 Series motherboards the necessary UEFI BIOS update takes just one click in an easy-to-use Windows-based BIOS updater application, which can be downloaded free of charge from the ASUS website.

Users keen to take advantage of the power of the latest 5th-generation Intel Core processors can visit the ASUS website, at www.asus.com, and download the relevant UEFI BIOS version today. The following ASUS 9 Series motherboards can be updated for compatibility with the latest Intel CPUs:

ASUS BIOS updates are available immediately worldwide.

Intel 5th Gen (Broadwell) CPU support is here (even if the LGA chips aren’t quite yet), but it’s good to be ready for your upgrade! Here’s the list of BIOS’ for 9 series motherboards and you can use EZ Flash 2 in the BIOS, USB BIOS Flashback or the Windows BIOS update tool within AISuite III to do it.

Wait so it boots up fine? I have never seen a CPU "work" with issues. It either boots up or it doesn't.

oh yes sir it happens sometimes.
there is no final test like

Shutdown (IF anything_fails)

Once upon a time I converted Athlon to Duron, with all kinds of issues :(

It boots up and works but with damages to the PCI-e part on the cpu die and damage is enough to stop it from being oced at all. The first PCi-E lane stuck at 4x forever no matter what, with it no longer being able to raise the CPU muiti by 1 without WHEA errors. It could been worst and not boot up at all. I actually thought it was the motherboard and took it apart so many times and the motherboard cpu pins are not bent at all. First time I ever damaged a cpu as well dropping it on its die. But the last time I ever buy a De-lied cpu just because i could get it cheap.

Quite a few of those received further BIOS updates yesterday to "improve system stability."
