ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II

ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II

Details of the upcoming ASUS GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC graphics card have been published by ASUS. The card will be released on a non-reference and thus custom PCB that is based on a 16-phase VRM design. Several tantalum capacitors twill deliver clean and nicely filtered power towards the GPU. ASUS is to factory clock the card to a 889 MHz core frequency with a 941 MHz GPU Boost. NVIDIA reference speeds are 863 MHz and 900 MHz.

You  probably already guessed it from the name, but the card comes with the ASUS DirectCU II fan cool with new 10mm heatpipes, ASUS CoolTech 360-degree fan solution and increased heatsink size. The 100% custom PCB features ASUS DIGI+ VRM with SAP components for better efficiency. The GTX 780 core runs at 941MHz (boost) and the 384-bit 3GB GDDR5 is clocked at 6008MHz.

Cooling versus silence, who doesn't like that ? The new Direct CU II cooler features two different cooling fans with Asus’ Cool Tech technology and four heat pipes that interlace with a large heat sink that covers the entire card.

The GPU has a DirectCU II backplate and comes with two SLI fingers to allow for four-way multi-GPU functionality. The pricing nor release date were mentioned for ASUS’s GeForce GTX 780 DirectCU II OC. Asus has yet to provide any information on the GTX 780 DirectCU II OC’s pricing or availability, but we expect a sticker price of between $650 and $700 and availability within two weeks.

I wounder if the new fan design is made for quieter operation or for creating a little bit more air pressure?
