ASUS brings its ROG Bezel-Free kit to market
If memory serves me right then it was CES 2018 when ASUS announced a bezel kit for their monitors to expand towards a better surround-view experience. Basically you can take three displays and transform it into one. Two years later, it is available.
Well, it is finally available it seems, albeit it is unclear as to why and that took this long. The kit contains two clips to attach to the monitors. The material will redirect the light rays so that the screen edges become invisible. According to ASUS something that works best at an angle of 130 degrees.
If you opt this solution then 27" is the maximum display size you can use with a bezel no wider than 13mm in the US it is sold for $110 on Amazon.

Litterally just saw Microcenter has a demo of this! It is pretty cool if you're running multi monitor setup, but my question is in the first place why don't you just get an ultra wide monitor? I'm sure it's less expensive than 3 monitors plus this bezel kit.
I mean you're basically explaining common business practices in multiple fields, which is completely subjective on being practical or impractical. But he's right, the product isn't meant for you if you aren't interested in it. Doesn't mean others aren't.

There's a difference between being in the market for something and being obsessive to the point of impractical. You can have an enjoyable multi-monitor rig that doesn't cost some people's yearly wage. $100 is a lot of money for what this product is. I'm sure it costs less than $5 to manufacture.

Regarding Ultra-wide.... I think people feel they don't think they "wrap" around as well as large three monitor setups in the big racing rigs. And they just weren't available a few years ago either. Not that cheap either... I'm looking at the 49" Samsung right now and its over 1000 Euro still.

The actual manufacturing cost for this is almost certainly under $10, maybe even under $5, so yeah, $110 is expensive for what it is.
Sure, you can say "well, you're already spending a lot of money on a multi-monitor setup!" but why exactly is that an okay thing to say?
Who are you, Apple? "$1000 monitor stand? Nah, we're not expensive, i mean you're already paying $5000+ for the monitor, what's another $1000!"
This item should be $50, max.
Just because someones interested in something doesn't mean that something should be expensive. If that was the case, there would be nothing that is cheap.
I can be interested in a billion dollar car, doesn't mean it's not expensive no matter which way anyone tries to "explain" the reason for the high cost.
And there's two different ways to say something is expensive.
There's "Expensive because of manufacturing costs" and "Expensive way beyond manufacturing costs"
This product is "Expensive way beyond manufacturing costs"
There's $110 GPUs, full PCBs, processors, memory, etc. And yet this piece of plastic is supposed to somehow suggest it costs the manufacturer anywhere near what it costs to make a $110 GPU? No thanks. This is why it's expensive. If someone wants to pay this price for it, and sees value even though it's expensive, that's their personal opinion and they should buy it. It doesn't change the fact it's expensive.
And before someone says "It's not plastic!", i don't really care what the actual material is. It's not glass, as it's bendable, so i'm going to go with it's plastic. If it's not? Doesn't change the point that is being made, unless the materials are some space-age super-expensive....."stuff", which i highly, highly doubt.
Expensive? What is it $100?? That's not expensive for the intended application.. I have seen videos of guys running triple monitor setups using $10,000 wheel & pedal setups on $5000 racing seats on $50,000 4DOF motion rigs. Do you think $100 to remove the two bezels from that setup is expensive to them, compared to what it adds to the system??!

.
Don't you understand that the term "expensive" is completely subjective. One persons expensive is another persons cheap. You have no idea whatsoever how much R&D, time, and other expenses went into designing and manufacturing this product. They also have to take into account the amount of them they expect to sell overall after all the time and expense of designing and making them in a small batch. This is not a mass market item. It is a niche item. And niche items are always going to cost more to produce and make some profit on. And they can charge what they want - and let market decide if they want to buy it or not. And they KNOW that their target market is already sitting on $17,000 D-Box actuators and a $3,000 wheel. They are not targeting you at all - because the likes of you would always complain - if they said OK $50, then you would say no I will still not buy - too expensive.
