New ways to beat the heat
Alongside the new motherboard variants, ASUS is also introducing a BIOS feature that allows users to easily unleash the power of their new 13th Gen Intel CPU while keeping temperatures in check. Users of last generation ASUS boards may be familiar with the ASUS MultiCore Enhancement and ASUS Performance Enhancement features . These BIOS options allowed users with exceptional cooling systems to accelerate their CPU beyond the default settings. Now ASUS adds a new option to the two menus.
Like the existing modes, the new options remove the restrictions that limit CPU boosting behavior, but they also set a CPU temperature limit of 90° Celsius. This gives users outstanding multi-core performance, albeit at a reduced temperature. Even with the temperature limitation, ASUS MultiCore Enhancement and ASUS Performance Enhancement remain powerful tools for boosting performance. ASUS engineers tested both of these MultiCore Enhancement settings with an Intel Core i9-13900K CPU and found that the new setting can drop CPU temperatures by as much as 10 degrees Celsius while offering broadly similar performance. The new mode results in a performance drop of only 2,
The new ASUS MultiCore Enhancement option will be available to users of all overclockable ASUS Z790 motherboards, and the comparable ASUS Performance Enhancement option will be introduced in the ASUS H770 and B760 motherboards. Anyone who already owns such a board can use the new function via a BIOS update.
