ASUS Announces AMD EPYC 7002 Series Processor Servers and Server Motherboard

ASUS today announced multiple solutions with AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors, including RS500A-E10 series server systems and the KRPA-U16 server motherboard. The AMD EPYCTM 7002 processor features the world’s first 7nm datacenter-design and a PCI Express 4.0-capable x86 server processor that offers up to twice the performance and four times the floating point capability versus the previous 7001 generation.

ASUS is a select AMD channel partner delivering these breakthrough solutions, and each solution includes ASUS-exclusive Thermal Radar 2.0 technology, Performance Boost tuning technology, and application-optimized design for workloads in virtualization and software-defined storage, making them perfect for high-performance computing (HPC), datacenter and enterprise applications.

Breakthrough performance by AMD EPYC 7002 series processors
The new AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors make your datacenter more responsive to demanding workloads with lower latency and lower power consumption, delivering a comprehensive, consistent feature set of I/O, memory and security. With support for up to 64 cores, 124 threads, 8-channel DDR4 3200, and 128 PCIe Gen 4.0 lanes, AMD EPYCTM

The best fit for enterprises
NVIDIA Edge Stack is an optimized software stack that includes NVIDIA drivers, a CUDA Kubernetes plug-in, a CUDA Docker container runtime, CUDA-X libraries, and containerized AI frameworks and applications, including TensorRT, TensorRT Inference Server and DeepStream. NVIDIA Edge Stack is optimized for certified servers and downloadable from the NVIDIA NGC registry.7002 series processors facilitate fast and robust infrastructure transformation with immense expandability and class-leading performance. In addition, AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors are designed with advanced encryption features in memory and virtualization for security assurance.

ASUS RS500A-E10 series servers
The three new ASUS rack servers with AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors are RS500A-E10-RS12U, RS500A-E10-RS4 and RS500A-E10-PS4. Each server is designed with a unique power supply and unique storage capability and networking expansion options to suit various workloads and applications. Targeted at datacenters and HPC applications, RS500-E10 series servers deliver 225 watts of thermal design power (TDP) and offer two PCIe 4.0 x16 and x8 lanes for storage, graphics and networking expansions. To meet larger bandwidth demands for faster data transfer, RS500A-E10 series servers support up to 100 Gbps or higher networking speeds via an OCP 2.0 Mezzanine card to connect more nodes and clusters. RS500A-E10-RS12U also offers up to 12 NVMe solutions in a 1U chassis, delivering 32 Gbps higher input and output per second (IOPS) and lower latency than SATA and SAS drives.

ASUS KRPA-U16 server motherboard
KRPA-U16 is the first ASUS server motherboard to feature AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors. It supports 16 DIMMs, DDR4 3200 with 8 channels, 16 SATA and SAS drives, dual Ethernet LAN and more expansion options in storage, networking and graphics. Featuring two PCIe 4.0 lanes that double the bandwidth per channel compared to PCIe 3.0, one PCIe 4.0 x24 can split into x16 and x8 link bandwidth with an ASUS butterfly card for more expansion options. KRPA-U16 also supports up to 12 NVMe SSDs via onboard Oculink slots and an ASUS riser card to deliver low-latency and low-power performance. An optional OCP 2.0 Mezzanine card is available to support up to 100G or higher networking speeds for HPC.

ASUS RS720A-E9 and RS700A-E9 series servers
In addition to RS500A-E10 single-socket 1U servers, ASUS also offers dual-socket 2U and 1U rack servers with AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors and unique storage and expansion options. RS720A-E9-RS24-E is a highly versatile 2U server that enables a wide variety of enterprise server applications via 32 DIMMs, 24 SATA and SAS storage bays, two M.2, and up to 9 PCIe 3.0 lanes. RS700A-E9 series servers deliver powerful performance in a 1U chassis and each supports a combination of NVMe, SATA and SAS storage bays, 4 PCIe 3.0 lanes and 32 DIMMs.

ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 technology
Power efficiency plays a key role in server design. ASUS has more than 23 years of experience in server design and is known as the world’s best motherboard brand, with market-leading motherboard design and the best components for real-world performance and reliability. ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 provides market-leading thermal control technology and is included in all RS500A-E10 series servers with AMD EPYCTM 7002 series processors.

Featuring two innovative multi-fan zone designs and intelligent detection technologies, ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 enables multiple fan curves for different zones to automatically reduce fan use and improve efficiency. This reduces the time required for manual adjustments while effectively enhancing system reliability and thermal efficiency. Servers with Thermal Radar 2.0 include various sensors on the CPU, GPU, DIMM, HDD and other areas to collect temperature information and automatically designate dedicated fan flow to reduce power consumption.

ASUS Thermal Radar 2.0 technology also includes a built-in ASMB9-iKVM module to support out-of-band management with monitoring and customizable settings.

Performance Boost tuning technology
ASUS servers feature exclusive Performance Boost technology to achieve the best server performance and agility by tuning servers to match workload requirements, giving you greater control of your server environment. This technology improves workload throughput by maximizing processor frequency and boost power, making it ideal for time-sensitive applications such as financial services or data center operations. In the BIOS you can choose from pre-configured server profiles optimized for specific workloads, maximizing overall performance and reducing server-configuration time.
