Asus Announces 49inch VG49V and 31.5inch CG32 Monitor Supporting FreeSync on Consoles

Asus Announces 49inch VG49V and 31.5inch CG32 Monitor Supporting FreeSync on Consoles

Asustek just announced two new monitors, both offer FreeSync over HDMI for compatible consoles. The VG49V is an Ultra wide curved screen display with 3840×1080 resolution. The second model is the CG32 uses a 31.5-inch 4K panel at 3840 x 2160. It supports HDR and adaptive refresh rate technology.

The Asus CG32UQ with its3 1.5 inches has a more traditional 16:9 aspect ratio, and with Adaptive-Sync and HDR10 on board the gaming credentials of this monitor are certainly nice. A total of 38 addressable RGB LEDs are embedded into the back of the frame. Whenever you’re playing a game, watching a movie, or even sitting at the Windows desktop, Halo Sync matches the LED colors with what’s happening along the borders of the screen.The Adaptive-Sync range is 40 to 60Hz both via DisplayPort and HDMI. The screen can display 95 percent of the dci-p3 color space and is equipped with a VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, that equals a peak brightness of 600cd/m². The CG32 can vary its refresh rate from 40-60Hz to compensate for normal in-game performance fluctuations. Adaptive-Sync works with not only the DisplayPort 1.2 input, but also all three HDMI 2.0 ports, so you can enjoy the benefits across a complete collection of gaming machines.

2 x USB 3.0 (downstream)
2 x USB 3.0 (charging)
Audio 2 x 5W speakers
1 x 3.5-mm analog output

If you like things wide, check out the VG49V, this puppy has a 32:9 aspect ratio spread out over a massive 1800R curve 49-inch panel with 144hz refresh rates.  The 4-ms pixel response time ensures objects on the screen look crisp, with minimal ghosting, blurring, and smearing even when they’re zooming by. For an even sharper image, Extreme Low Motion Blur (ELMB) strobes the backlight to achieve a moving-picture response time of just 1 ms. Strobing requires a fixed refresh rate, so ELMB works at 85, 100, or 120Hz. Devices connect via the VG49V’s DisplayPort 1.2 and dual HDMI 2.0 inputs. This model as well adopts FreeSync with a range of 48 up to 144Hz. Both monitors will probably be available at the end of 2018, pricing is unknown at the time of writing.

The second model is the CG32 uses a 31.5-inch 4K panel at 3840 x 2160. It supports HDR and adaptive refresh rate technology.

This model (CG32) is the one focused for Console gamers but it will completely fail right from the start:

Refresh rate: 40-60Hz with Adaptive-Sync

Current consoles can't sustain +30 fps at 4K even using chekerboard fake 4K.So adaptive 40-60 Hz is completely useless for them...

It could have some use for 1080Ti and specially 1080 users PC gamers.

Not really if Adaptive Sync only supports AMD (FreeSync) cards, right?
