Hey now, the old cooler is back. While all their products are based off a Direct CU cooler, ASUS apparently went back to their STRIX roots and is using the 'older' DCUII cooler on a new GeForce GTX 1060 STRIX OC edition SKU.

If you compare it to the 'modern' STRIX (DCUIII) version with three fans (see here), you'll understand what we are getting at.

  • DirectCU II with 0dB fan technology for 30% cooler and 3X quieter performance.
  • Industry Only Auto-Extreme Technology with Super Alloy Power II delivers premium quality and best reliability.
  • VR-friendly HDMI ports let you enjoy VR experiences anytime without having to swap cables.
  • GPU Tweak II with XSplit Gamecaster provides intuitive performance tweaking and real-time streaming

The card is located under SKU code STRIX-GTX1060-DC2O6G, has a short PCB (Mini ITX short) and is the 6 GB model. Powered by one 6-pin PCIe power connector the card is factory tweaked at a 1569 MHz core and 1785 MHz GPU Boost, memory clock is 8.00 GHz (GDDR5-effective). There is a 1809 MHz boost clock in OC mode, but that is software activated.

Monitor outputs are three DisplayPort 1.4, one HDMI 2.0b, and one dual-link DVI. The company didn't reveal pricing or availability, this might be an Asia and Australia targeted SKU though.
