Assassins Creed Origin DRM Triggers High CPU Utilization
I know, I've had my say about DRM protections with Ubisoft titles many times in the past already. However, there's something new detected and brewing. Gamers that purchase Assassins Creed Origin are complaining about performance issues, as it seems now all related to the Denuvo DRM protection.
Over the weekend many gamers have reported complaints in Steam forums regarding the CPU load, some Assassin's Creed players are reporting a constant 100 percent load on all four cores of their processors. The performance issues most people here are complaining about seem to be directly related to the processor getting maxed out 100 percent at all times. This results in FPS drops and things like stutters and there is no workaround." Aside from stutters, some claimed that the CPU overload has caused their Windows PC to crash and or BSOD, as their PCs are overheating after a couple of hours of playtime.
“What is the normal CPU usage for this game?” a user asked on Steam forums. “I randomly get between 60% to 90% and I’m wondering if this is too high or not.” This person reported running an i7 processor. The bigger issue seems to be running a CPU with fewer cores and clock frequency. For example, somebody running an i5 reports a 100% load on all four cores of his processor all the time during gaming.
“It really doesn’t seem to matter what kind of GPU you are using,” another complained. “The performance issues most people here are complaining about are tied to CPU getting maxed out 100 percent at all times.
Here's the thing, it all boils down to DRM. Ubisoft has implemented VMProtect on top of Denuvo, tanking the game’s performance by a staggering 30-40%, demanding that people have a more expensive CPU to play the game properly, only because of the DRM. For the validity of the story, the guys reporting and that have detected the problem might be a bit biased, as they are game crackers. Regardless, DRM keeps popping back up and this time it seems to be causing complex and many hassles.
I am wondering, have you experienced this issue on the PC version? Let us know in the forums/comments below.

My i7 4790K @ 4.6 @ 1.25 is being pushed more than any other game it is at 100% so often its more like a CPU stress test.
My CPU cooler is keeping the temps down, I wouldn't recommend playing this game on a stock cooler.

It really hammers my performance, in cities my performance would drop below 35fps resulting in low gpu usage.
Six core CPU's don't seem to suffer much from these fps drops so it's not tied to my GPU.
I compared the performance to someone's video showing Ryzen 1600 /w Vega 56 hitting 60fps in Siwa.
