ASRock offers ThunderBolt 3 Expansion card for ASRock 200 series

ASRock is to release a more a affordable  Thunderbolt 3 expansion card called, Thunderbolt 3 AIC. The anticipated selling price is around 7,380 yen excluding vat which is about 67 USD and 60 euros. The unit holds two Thunderbolt 3 ports with a bandwidth of 40 Gbps.

The expansion card can add 2 port Thunderbolt 3 to the ASRock 200 series motherboard with a specific "TB1" header, which really is a PCI-Express 3.0 (x4) slot.

The card makes use of a Intel JHL 6540 controller and supports up to six daisy chained units. Specific compatible boards are "Z270M Extreme 4" "Z270 Extreme 4" "Z270 Taichi" "Z270 Pro4" "Fatal1ty Z270 Professional Gaming i7" "Fatal1ty Z270 GamingK6" "Fatal1ty Z270 Gaming K4" "Fatal1ty H270 Performance" "H270 Pro4" "Fatal1ty B250 Gaming K4 "" B250 PRo4", thus a total of 11 models.

Wow look at that PCB. I don't think I've ever seen one with curves like that.

Anyway is this specific to ASRock 200 series boards, does it work on other 200 series boards, or can it actually work on any PCIe x4+ 3.0 slot?

Yes definitely.... I'd love to know if there is a way to get this bad boy running on another motherboard....
