ASRock New BIOS Updates For Speculated System Vulnerability - Reboot Issue Identified
ASRock was just informed by Intel that they disclosed the reboot issue on the former microcode released earlier. To fix the security vulnerability (SA-00088), ASRock will keep working closely with Intel to develop and update new BIOS for our 8/9/100/200/Z370/X99/X299 motherboard series.
ASRock is aware that the current Intel microcode version might be defected by security vulnerabilities. We recommend users update their systems by flashing the latest BIOS once the revision microcode is released from Intel. I had that board. I liked it but it died so fast. No idea why. Only had an i7 950 @ 4.1. Loved the look of it. Sadly, I dont think anything older then the z97 boards will get an update.

I have not seen nor heard of an update on my Asus RIVE for either the CPU or motherboard. Is there something I am missing for my 3930K and my motherboard combo?
You can mod your bios with the tool UBU 1.69.10... but you have to know what you're doing, with these method you can brick your board.
Here is a guy commited to updating some older ROG boards with all the latest bios goodies: https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?48001-R4E-BIOS-4804-MODDED-EFI-Intel-13-1-0-2126-Download
I’m thinking about updating my RIVE soon but maybe I’ll wait for Intel to sort out some of their issues first.
I think the 3930K has a microcode update while the 3960X does not.
BOLTS4BREKFAST from the rog forum also modifies the bios files this way..

Yeah I was looking into the UBU way a couple of years ago and instead of doing it myself I was lucky to find him on the ROG forum. Saved me the hassle of puzzling together all the 100 topics and guides on win-raid on how to do it yourself.

I would like to know if this is a persistent issue on any X79 mobos. Specifically the Asus Rampage IV Extreme.
Still hoping old Sandybridge-E is going to be able to still be kicking it a few more years!!
I was wondering this for my best friend/roommate. He has my old i7 3820 and MSI X79 board. I just told him all about this today. He just got into pc gaming. So he is still learning. Have an issue where the bios says cpu is at 4.5 but windows says it at 3.6. CPUZ , afterburner, everything says the same thing. He has notice some slow down the past week.
