Arctic provides free repair kit Liquid Freezer II Coolers On Specific Batch

A manufacturing flaw has been detected in Arctic's Liquid Freezer II series processor coolers. Certain versions manufactured between May 2021 and March 2022 have an insufficiently vulcanized seal, resulting in a chemical interaction with the copper cold plate. This can affect cooling performance and is also known as "potential fluid loss."

WHAT IS THE ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED?
In certain units, the gaskets were not sufficiently vulcanized causing a chemical reaction to occur between the copper cold plate and the gasket. This reaction may lead to sulfur residue and copper plate deposits. If this has happened, it can lead to a reduction in cooling performance and potential loss of cooling liquid.

WHEN CAN THE PROBLEM OCCUR?
The chemical reaction and degeneration of the gasket is a slow process and can occur within the 6-year warranty period. Thus, there is no reason to panic. We recommend that all affected coolers are serviced as soon as possible.

ARE CURRENT PRODUCTS IN STORES AFFECTED?
All products that were on the market and in our warehouses have been subjected to additional quality control testing and have been replaced to ensure that no affected products entered the market.

We have since increased quality assurance and quality control testing. We have also marked these products with a “QC Passed” sticker.

HOW IS THE PROBLEM SOLVED?
We know that our customers depend on their cooling solutions. In order to ensure the shortest possible interruption, we have developed an at-home service kit to safely guarantee the 6-year life expectance of the product. With this service kit, our customers can easily replace the gasket and copper plate of their Liquid Freezer II themselves within minutes and without any expertise. Providing this service kit to our customers is a sustainable and environmentally friendly process, which upholds our company's commitment to creating a brighter, cleaner environment while reducing downtime.

HOW DOES THE SERVICE KIT WORK? WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
Replacing the gasket and copper cold plate is done in a few simple steps and does not require any expertise. In the video, we show how to exchange the gasket, the copper cold plate, and also provide detailed instructions to ensure the replacement is done easily and effectively. As always, our support team is happy to assist our customers with any questions.

You can easily check if your Liquid Freezer II is affected by using the form below. If your cooler is affected, you will receive your free service kit. The service kit consists of: copper plate, gasket, MX-5 0.8 g, additional coolant, and screws.

Insane is not the word. It's 170$ in canada. For an air cooler it's ludicrous.
I've found it in the range of $125 to $185 in the US....

People buy Arctic because....cheap. I did too, and I wont do it again.

Longevity and reliability matters.

I'm long past Arctic, fortunately it wasnt an expensive learning experience.

As far as noise..I sent back Arctic fans that developed noise a few times over, until I just gave up. I tried.
I've been using Arctic CPU coolers and case fans for almost 20 years. I've never had a problem from any of their products except for MX-5.... In fact, I have family still running a socket 754 system that I built back in 2006. It's been going for 16 years on the same Arctic CPU cooler, thermal compound and case fans. It's still dead silent and yes, the fans are still spinning.

Thankfully my 420mm was purchased in 2020 and is not affected. I wonder if I can just buy the service kit instead even though I'm not affected? It's a nice idea to be able to open it up, replace the copper heatsink, gasket, top up the fluids whilst you're there, you know, peace of mind...bit like servicing a car.

This is something all AIO suppliers should consider selling assuming it's easy enough to replace on those products!
If you go to the page linked in the OP, they ask for product model, country of delivery and purchase date. I haven't seen anything where they ask for proof of purchase, so it wouldn't be too hard to fudge the purchase date.

To me this seems like either a bad supplier, or someone trying to increase margins on a product. Either way the fact that Arctic brought it to everyone's attention and is offering a free fix is the important part (I might feel differently if it was a catastrophic failure situation). Doing the fix yourself doesn't void the 6 year warranty which is one of, if not, the best AIO warranty on the market.

(I do have one of the coolers effected by this and submitted the form for the replacement parts)
