Apple targets Epic Games, claiming that its store will not turn a profit until 2027.
In the midst of a heated legal dispute between Apple and Epic Games, Apple's attorneys have just added more fuel to the flames with their most recent claims.
In response to Epic's claim that the Epic Games Store is comparable to Apple's App Store, Apple's lawyers attacked the company with numbers that reflect the significant losses that the EGS is causing, claiming that the two stores "do not compare in absolute terms" because the Epic store "will not be profitable for many years, if not ever" As if that weren't enough, forecasts indicate that the Epic Games Store will generate its first profits only in 2027, under the best of circumstances. Yes, even under the best-case scenario, they will suffer hundreds of millions of dollars in losses for the next eight years.
While Apple's statements are not particularly contextual and are merely intended to make Epic look bad, the lawyers for the company also noted that "“while Epic's commissions are lower than Apple's, they do not offer all the services that Apple provides. EGS is basically a showcase, it does not have the functions that make the App Store a platform desired by consumers and developers ”. As a showcase, the EGS does not provide the features that users and developers look for in an app store.
The struggle is still waging, and this is only the first chapter of what will be many more to come. It will be interesting to see when this legal war comes to a close and what effects it produces, but all indications point to it not being completed anytime soon.

Apple one of biggest game studio in the world, never ever made a single game.
Also, games are main revenu source for apple store by quite a margin. Game developers is where Apple makes its money.

This sounds like good news for smaller developers, from what I've been reading. If they can avoid the 30% Apple tax, more apps will be viable and we could see new ideas rise up from this.
