Apple Drops to 11-Month Low on Reports of IPhone Cutbacks

Apple Inc. declined to the lowest price in 11 months after the Nikkei newswire reported that production of the iPhone was cut on weak demand. Apple ordered about half the 65 million iPhone 5 displays it originally targeted for this quarter, Nikkei said, citing an unnamed executive at a component maker. Manufacturing curbs have been widely known since December, according to Steven Milunovich and Mark Moskowitz, analysts at UBS AG and JPMorgan Chase & Co., respectively. Last month, Apple cut production by about 30 percent, which may be the result of inventory rebalancing or lower consumer demand, Milunovich wrote in a research report today.

Order cuts may also be due to suppliers becoming more adept at building the latest iPhone, reducing the need for Apple to order excess parts, Bloomberg wrote in a note to clients today.

One line retorts, that's what you got. You gave an "I told you so" to a guy who really doesn't care what you were saying 2 years ago, and that's it. I assume you have a stupid smug grin on your face when you say it too.

You are absolutely worse than any fanboy, including Finch, because you are more blind than they are. At least they get their enjoyment from using the product. You're just ****ting on a device to **** on it and you disregard any valid points given to you, all because it gives you a feeling of superiority for your OS choice.
So I'm a fanboy because I don't like iPhones and don't get enjoyment out of using them? lol. Actually, I use an iphone on daily basis and no, I really don't get any enjoyment out of it. If there's a definition of fanboyism, you named it right there!

I think you'll also find I wasn't talking to you when I said "I called it". not everything is revolving around you. now calm down, no need to bring down the language to that level. Now go back to playing naked, jeez.

Depends on what they're struggling with lol. Nexus 4 is still no-where to be found. I'm in my 7th week of waiting.

My Nexus S would like to disagree with that. Based on my own testing, the latest generation iPod doesn't contain a good sound chip, basses sound flat and the sound isn't as crisp as the Nexus S which has a top-of-the-line Wolfson WM8994. If you add the Voodoo Sound driver (root required), it makes the sound even cleaner.

To me one of the biggest problems is that you don't know what your getting because so few review sites report the quality of the DAC. I personally prefer the wolfson like you to the iphone4s that I've heard but both are pretty similar.

Apple really needs to "innovate" or do something actually different if they want to hold on to their marketshare. Android will rarely have this issue as it's a completely open platform, anyone can make any device and just slap the OS on top (which is a blessing and a curse as everyone knows).

I agree that Apple needs to start bringing some worthy changes to the table. it's nice that their interface has held up for so long and it's good for people who are really accustomed to it but it's starting to feel aged.

Yes fake 1080 screens I can't wait for it  sorry but I will take a slightly lowwer PPI IPS retina display over a higher "PPI" AMOLED screen and their 2 sub pixel per pixel where the retina has 3 sub pixels per pixel. To me the colors looks much more natural on a retina on the AMOLED screen they look over saturated and fake.

Their screens are simply better and they are really anal about quality testing and factory level calibration.

I actually don't think we need 1080p displays on 5" screens. but if they're available, might as well. Respect to manufacturers, they could have sat down for a few hours and decide on upping the resolution slowly over the years. This would of course mean a few scaling issues with every new generation of phones. So yeah, let's have 1080p now and be done with it. Just saying that retina of iPhones will be outdone soon. and let's not forget the state of iPhone screens before the arrival of iPhone 4. They were awful, low resolution mess. Apple never advertized the ppi or resolution, until iPhone 4 came out and suddenly resolution was the main feature of a phone.

You know you can change color profiles (screen modes) on android phones? you can have it over saturated, but you can also have it as true to life as you want. no problem there.

You can't do that on all android devices. I really wish you could because my Nexus 7 looks bad. But regardless even the ones where you can, they don't have a high level of calibration anyway. You aren't going to come close to SRGB spec with Ezekeel's hacked up support. It does help though.

And as for 1080p, as I stated in the other thread I don't have a problem with it. The diminishing return kinda makes it pointless in terms of display detail, as pretty much anything over 340dpi is indiscernible over 10 inches. But it does help because most content is native to that resolution. But I still think that if Apple didn't push this resolution crazed war in the first place we would have taken way longer to get there.

And don't take me wrong -- I'm not saying Apple and iPhones are perfect, they are definitely far from that for a number of reasons. But I just don't buy into the whole "they are overpriced garbage". I also don't buy into the fact that Apple hasn't done anything for technology. Even the lawsuit with Samsung showed that Samsung engineers were borrowing all kinds of non-protected ideas from Apple's UI design. I think they have their place and I think occasionally they do things right to the point where it forces the competition to react. And as a result my android phone benefits from it.

In 6 months from now all we will here is, "Who is this Apple you spoke of?" uh, shh!, don't really matter, just some cell phone Grampa uses because he doesn't like change.

Lol^
