AORUS open PUBG Tournament 2018 Kicks off This Summer

Gigabyte AORUS today announced AORUS OPEN, its first official eSports tournament that will be held in 6 regions across the globe, while expecting more than 1,000 teams to participant in this exhilarating community event.

Beginning this summer, AORUS is set to engage the Player’s Unknown Battleground (PUBG) community worldwide with its first ever tournament aimed to promote the brand tagline of ‘Team Up. Fight On.’ Winners emerged from each region will face off at the Grand Final in France during Paris Games Week for a grand total of a US $45,000 prize pool.

Partnered with Intel, AORUS OPEN is a community tournament that opens to all amateur gamers who aspire to take their games to the next level. The competition will be played in the most prevalent battle royal FPS game – PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) in duo FPP format that emphasizes on both individual combat skills and teamwork. Players will be given the opportunity to battle alongside their favorite comrades and experience playing competitively as a team in this community tournament, which celebrates the spirit of ‘Team up. Fight on.’

What further differentiates AORUS OPEN from other PUBG events is the unique CQB (Close Quarters Battle) game mode developed by Team AORUS in conjunction with the game developer. In this custom game mode, players will have more resources to loot, but at the same time will have to cope with smaller safe zones, nonstop shrinking circles, and other special settings that force engagement and discourage camping, bringing much more action and excitement unlike any other PUBG competitions.

Commencing this July, teams from 6 regions, including China, USA, Germany, Taiwan, Korea, and France, will enter the battle in a series of online qualifiers and offline regional finals. The winning duo emerged from each of the 6 regional qualifiers will advance to the Grand Final, which will take place in France during Paris Games Week in late October. A total of 6 elite teams will eventually meet in Paris for the final showdown before a huge, enthusiastic crowd and fight for the ultimate prize and glory.

Still funny that they organize all these tournaments for PUBG. This game should have nothing to do with esports in it's current state.

This product is not ready for Prime Time and still sold as such. The publisher will not commit to a supported product and they're going to have a tournament based on the crap that is PUBg? That's too bad.
