AOC has introduced the G4309VX/D, a 43-inch 4K monitor with VESA DisplayHDR1000 compatibility
AOC, a company that makes monitors, has made its first foray into big-format gaming displays with the G4309VX/D. If you want to see things fast, this is a 43-inch 4K monitor that can run VRR up to 144Hz.
A wide color range and VESA DisplayHDR1000 certification should make it look like it has a lot of power and color. China has the AOC G4309VX/D, but it or something very similar is likely to come out in Europe and the United States. When TFT Central saw the AOC G4309VX/D, they talked about it, and the specs just flowed right into the story.
The screen has a 3840 x 2160 resolution and is made with VA technology. An MPRT specification says it has a 1ms response time, 4000:1 contrast ratio, 8-bit+FRC color depth, and a wide color gamut that covers 100% sRGB and 95% DCI-P3. This is because it has a Quantum Dot coating that makes it possible to cover 95% of DCI-P3. There is a high refresh rate of 144Hz that can be used with adaptive-sync for VRR on both NVIDIA and AMD systems. There is now a backlight mode called Motion Blur Reduction (MBR) that makes it possible for the 1ms MPRT spec to be met, so
Because the screen is so big, the stand only lets you tilt it a little bit. It can also be removed for 200 x 100mm VESA mounting if you want. If you want to connect, there are 2x DisplayPort 1.4 (with DSC) and 2x HDMI 2.1, which are both good for modern games consoles and work well with them. USB 3.2 ports and a headphone jack are also available. The screen has 2x 7W speakers built in and can play PiP and PbP, and there are 4x USB 3.2 ports.
HDR 1000 certified
In addition, the AOC G4309VX/D is certified to the VESA DisplayHDR 1000 standard, which means it has a brightness level of 1100 cd/m2. This level of brightness comes with a wide color gamut that covers 95% of the DCI-P3 space and a color depth of 10 bits (8-bit + FRC). While the screen has a good foundation for high contrast (4000:1 static contrast ratio), the screen only has basic edge-lit local dimming to make that dynamic range even better. So don't expect miracles there.
The ports and features of modern console games work well with PC games, too. Sadly, we don't know about prices or availability outside of China at the time of writing.

That does at first seem like a great idea yet its not a good one. There is a big difference between a monitor vs a TV. You have not noticed how 'reviewers" don't even question this? There are many reasons for this.

What about 4:4:4 chroma, some TV are not optimised for it.
Care to elaborate?

Such screen sizes may be good for those that wanna get rid of TVs (in some countries you pay a tax for them) but still having a good size screen for both PC, games and movies/shows.

That's exactly what I did, minus the tax. But yes, no Smart TV please. I have my own "smart" HTPC device and whatever media server I can possibly want.

Just buy a good TV like the 50 inch sony X90J like i did for a monitor, much better picture quality and great gaming features. There aren't any good HDR gaming monitors at any price range unfortunately. You have to choose Gaming OR picture quality and not both so you might as well just buy a tv if you're going to compromise anyways. The only downside to the tv is that i have to manually turn it on but i can live with that.
