Silently AMD expanded their Ryzen 3000 line-up this week, exclusively in Chinafor the time being. Ryzen 5 3500X has been benchmarked. The non SMT Ryzen 5 is compared with Intel's Core i5 9400F - who is in the lead in the price range up to 150 Euro?
The setup used is an MSI B450M Mortar Titanium (AMD), an MSI B360M Mortar Titanium (Intel) and both got 2x8 GB DDR4-3200. In all tested office workloads, the six-core (six threads, no virtual core doubling, AMD SMT) is ahead of the i5 9400F, which also has six cores and no Intel Hyper-Threading. I agree. The 2600 has SMT, but, Zen2 is also a noticeably faster architecture. I'd also really like to see the 8600K thrown in the mix.
Not bad but the 2600 is 20 Euro less expensive, it might be interesting to compare old gen 2600 6/12 versus new gen 3500X 6/6 as they are in same price range (and they have a huge stock of 2600 to sell) ...
