AMD's Phenom II specs leak - can reach 4 Ghz on air

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 11/18/2008 10:20 AM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Specification on AMD's Phenom II processors have leaked yesterday, and quite honestly .. it's looking pretty good. Phenom II will be based on the new Deneb core at 45nm. The new processors are to be launched as soon as Q1 next year already, we heard this might be January 8th.

Interesting is the Core i7 like naming, you'll stumble into a Phenom II X4 920, 940 and so on, matching Core i7 model names pretty tight. It's also rumoured that the new processors should be able to achieve a clock frequency of no less than 4 GHz .. on air cooling. Which means there's a 1 GHz clock delta to play around with. The high-end models will not have a limitation my multiplier lock.

How coincidental is it that the info "leaked" on the day the Intel officially is shipping Core i7 eh ?
