AMD will not obstruct any workload, including crypto mining

It has been a heated topic for a while now, cryptocurrency mining. NVIDIA has started restricting hash rates for certain products specifically with (and only) Ethereum mining; however, on the AMD front, things remained silent.

The problem with miners is they buy all stock available, leaving little room for the gaming community, which causes a lot of uproar. AMD has been silent on the topic, until today.

AMD product manager Nish Neelalojanan mentions in an interview that AMD will not apply any restrictions on its graphics cards, which includes usage for mining.

"We are not going to block any workload," states the CEO to PC Gamer, among others. We're not sure as to why AMD would not want to separate products into two categories, but historically they believe in open platforms, for any usage. RDNA2 also isn't a good mining architecture regardless, the 6700 XT would be slower than a 5700 XT. NVIDIA's 24GB GeForce RTX 3090 achieves ~120MH/s. High-end RDNA 2 cards based on the Navi 21 chip are handling around 58-64MH/s.

Atleast they're honest.

But it shows AMD doesn't care about gamers either.

It's easy to say they don't limit workloads when their cards are obviously not that popular to mine with in the beginning... sorry but that doesn't earn any sympathy points with me personally. Not that Nvidia did either, but you know the tune, along the lines of fellow gurus posting above.
