AMD Unleashes Powerful Mobile Processor: Ryzen 9 7945HX Dragon Range Beats Intel's Raptor Lake Core i9-13950HX by 10%
The Ryzen 9 7945HX has already been integrated by several OEM partners into their flagship laptop models. This top-of-the-line CPU has also proven to be a formidable competitor, beating Intel's Raptor Lake Core i9-13950HX by an average of 10% in gaming benchmark tests.
AMD has recently launched its Ryzen 7045 HX-series (Dragon Range) processors, which are designed to power high-performance laptops. The world's most powerful mobile processor, the Ryzen 9 7945HX, is now available for purchase, as announced by AMD's Jason Banta in a recent YouTube video. The Dragon Range series includes four processor models, with the Ryzen 9 7945HX being the most powerful one, followed by the 12-core/24-thread Ryzen 9 7845HX, and the 8-core/16-thread Ryzen 7 7745HX and 6-core/12-thread Ryzen 5 7645HX models. The Ryzen 9 7945HX has a base frequency of 2.50 GHz and can boost up to 5.40 GHz, while the 7845HX has a base frequency of 3.00 GHz, boosting up to 5.20 GHz. The 7745HX ticks at 3.60 GHz base, boosting up to 5.10 GHz, and the 7645HX has the highest base frequency at 4.00 GHz, but only boosts up to a maximum of 5.00 GHz.
The Ryzen 9 7945HX has already hit the retail market, with laptops equipped with this processor available for purchase on Newegg and Amazon. ASUS is among the first companies to offer products featuring the Ryzen 9 7945HX, with various configurations of its ROG range, such as the Zephyrus Duo 16, Strix SCAR, and Strix G17 models. The price of these laptops ranges from $1799 for a basic G17 model and $5145 for the top-of-the-line Zephyrus. AMD has faced challenges related to supply chain and manufacturing issues during product launches in the past, so it will be interesting to see whether supply meets demand for these powerful processors. Nonetheless, AMD's Ryzen 7045 HX-series processors are set to revolutionize the high-performance laptop market, and the Ryzen 9 7945HX has already established itself as a top competitor.

The CPU isn't crippled, the laptop's option are (high-end screens only available on Intel variant, crappie wifi, less memory options, etc.)
There are "some" decent options lately, but still fairly scarce.

And all while using less electricity.
If laptop manufacturers don't start selling non-crippled AMD solutions now... I don't know when they will.
I feel you. I've been over a year postponing my ultra book upgrade because I cannot get myself to buy a high-end laptop running on a severely inferior intel product, or opting to go for an AMD model packaged in a budget solution, often being implemented poorly. I'm fingers crossed HP, Acer, Dell, Lenovo or Asus will give a 794xU in a maxed out package a shot this time around. In their defence, AMD also seems to have had issues getting their solutions on the market in respectable time and quantities after product announcements
