We are closing in on AMD's new Trinity APU release for desktop, AMD's Trinity desktop APUs are expected to be released on October 1, 2012. The specifications of these chips have been known for months. German site ComputerBase came across the leaked MSRPs. It appears the cheapest part of the lineup, the single-core A6-5300 with 3.4GHz clockspeed, 3.7GHz turbo, 1MB L2 and Radeon HD 7480D IGP will cost $59.99, while the top-of-the-line model, the A10-5800K dual-core chip with 3.8GHz base clock, 4.2GHz Turbo, 4MB L2 and Radeon HD 7660D graphics will top out at $139.99.
Model | Cores / Threads | Frequency / Turbo | L2 cache | IGP | Shaders | TDP | Price |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
A10-5800K | 2 / 4 | 3,8 / 4,2 GHz | 4 MB | HD 7660D | 384 | 100 W | $140 |
A10-5700 | 2 / 4 | 3,4 / 4,0 GHz | 4 MB | HD 7660D | 384 | 65 W | $131 |
A8-5600K | 2 / 4 | 3,6 / 3,9 GHz | 4 MB | HD 7560D | 256 | 100 W | $120 |
A8-5500 | 2 / 4 | 3,2 / 3,7 GHz | 4 MB | HD 7560D | 256 | 65 W | $110 |
A6-5400 | 1 / 2 | 3,6 / 3,8 GHz | 1 MB | HD 7540D | 192 | 65 W | $90 |
A6-5300 | 1 / 2 | 3,4 / 3,7 GHz | 1 MB | HD 7480D | 128 | 65 W | $60 |

Hmm that chart has to be wrong in Cores / Threads
A6 should be 2 / 2 = Cores / Threads
A8 and A10 should be 4 / 4 = Cores / Threads

Its AMD modules so..
1 Modules = 2 threads
2 Modules = 4 threads

The meaning to core processor is a single computing component with two or more actual central processing units (called "cores") which make no diff if it one independent cpu or dual or ever quad modules.
1 Modules with 2 CPU Per-Modules = 2 Threads x 2 Modules = 4 CPU with 4 Threads so as I said the A8 and A10 should be 4 / 4 = Cores / Threads

AMD basically need to make all their processors APU's, considering that is basically what Intel have done. Originally it wasn't worthwhile since you most likely have a discrete graphics card rendering the integrated GPU pointless, but now you have Lucid MVP that can make use of the integrated graphics with a discrete card it is something AMD will have to consider, and sooner rather than later.
