AMD to release TressFX 2.0
AMD will release an updated version of its TressFX hair simulation technology with the ability to animate grass and fur, according to the schedule for the AMD Developer Summit 2013.
TressFX debuted in Crystal Dynamics' Tomb Raider reboot and was available exclusively for the Windows PC version of the game. The technology allowed developers to render and simulate thousands of individual strands of hair, giving Lara a more life-like appearance. The talk at AMD Developer Summit will cover the new capabilities of TressFX 2.0 and discuss how its rendering and physics work, as well as how research will be applied to future products.
AMD Developer Summit 2013 kicks off today at the San Jose Convention Center and comes to a close Nov. 13. A schedule is available on the official website.

I believe something like a 7950 could render it nicely at that level of quality, but I played the game on a gtx 560 and tressfx was a no-go. someone above said he ran it at almost max on a 7850, which i really doubt since it's a tad better than my card. and i doubt it's so heavily optimized towards amd cards. although nvidia had their share of problems with tomb raider, driver-wise.
it would really be gay if nvidia/amd would start developing and heavily optimizing their own technology for their own cards. because in time it will be all about the features instead of raw performance or performance/price ratio like it is now.

Or not, you want hairy breasts? xD
I think a lot of people mix TressFx with a generic physics engine. TressFx is only for simulating hair like textures/sprites/geometry. Just like by nvidia, nv hair has a special branch for it and its not physx in general

And imo TombRaider hair is not buggy, its only on nvidia - that hair twitching time to time (benchmark) is actually driver fault. I didnt have that before, it started with newer drivers since r320 or 325+

Umm she had it in a pony tail lol, around 10 strands were loose haha
but sure the more fur, nice grass and fancy hairstyles the better.
