AMD to release three new FX processors for September

AMD to release three new FX processors for September

AMD is preparing to announce three new FX processors on September 1, 2014 including models FX-8370, FX-8370E and FX-8320E. It is also stated that AMD will lower pricing of older FX processors and that there might be some new chipsets.

The new FX-series microprocessors from AMD, which are due to be formally introduced on September 1, 2014, are the FX-8370 and the FX-8370E reports xbitlabs:

The new FX-series microprocessors from AMD, which are due to be formally introduced on September 1, 2014, are the FX-8370 and the FX-8370E. Both chips feature eight cores, 4.10GHz/4.30GHz clock-rates, 8MB L2 cache, 8MB L3 cache and dual-channel DDR3 memory controllers. The FX-8370 will have thermal design power of 125W, whereas the FX-8370E will feature TDP of 95W. Both microprocessors will be priced at $189 in mass quantities.

In addition, AMD will also slash prices on existing FX-8300-series chips and introduce the model FX-8320E with 95W TDP.

Given the fact that the new AMD FX-8300-series microprocessors will not boost their performance significantly, it is unlikely that they will be significantly more competitive against Intel Corp.’s Core i3 and Core i5 than existing models.

According to unofficial information, AMD is trying to boost competitive positions of its central processing units and accelerated processing units in order to make them more competitive versus Intel’s fresh chips based on the code-named Haswell Refresh as well as Devil’s Canyon designs. In order to do that, AMD plans to slash prices, introduce some new chip models and even roll-out a new chipset for inexpensive PCs with USB 3.0 support.

That's like saying R9 280 was superseded by R9 295X2. Plus, I don't know anyone who is even remotely interested in the FX-9000 series. :/

My opinion? Amd schould stick to making there Apus! They dont stand a chance against Intel with the Fx series as things stand currently, The Apus however compete much better on account of the strong i-Gpu. Just dump the Fx series all together and focus on making a good Apu for gamers.Ive had Fx 6100,8350,and 9370 none of which I can say I was really impressed with.I was much happier with my Richland 6800k chip.

I hope Amd is listening to its fan base, stick to Apus guys.

The exact reasons for why AMD decided not to introduce higher-performance AMD FX chips is unclear, but it is logical to assume that the company just does not sell enough FX processors in order to afford binning of high-frequency parts.
