AMD Starts Rolling Out AGESA 1.0.0.5 BIOS Firmware
There are some new processors to be released soon, Ryzen 3 3100 and 3300X, likely they'll need a firmware update as all of the sudden a handful of X570 motherboards show a BIOS update, with firmware revision 1.0.0.5.
MSI seems to be the first to drop the new BIOS update AGESA 1.0.0.5. ComboAM4 1.0.0.5 is currently only available from MSI for the following models:
- B450M-A Pro MAX
- B450M Pro-VDH MAX
- B450M Pro-M2 MAX
- B450M Mortar MAX
- B450-A Pro MAX
- B450 Tomahawk MAX
- B450 Gaming Plus MAX
An unofficial and thus beta test BIOS is available for the MEG X570 Ace and MEG X570 Godlike reports Hardwareluxx. From the looks of things, MSI testing its B450 mainboards before extending the update to other models. The changes list is minimal though:
- Updated AMD AGESA ComboAm4PI 1.0.0.5
- Fix HDMI audio lost issue when use AMD RX570 vga card.
You can find and download the firmware updates at the corresponding MSU support pages.

It is interesting, as AMD does not directly support the earlier chipsets for Zen2--that's done strictly by the mboard vendor--as apparently we see here.

It was similar with previous updates - due to AGESA getting bigger, many motherboards had to undergo a big overhaul of their UEFI to fit it in their 16mb flash ROM; if I'm not mistaken, MSI's MAX models have a 32mb flash ROM. AMD finally released a reduced size AGESA after a while and there must be some space left on older B450 boards for that reason, but their support may take more time for that very same reason.

Except most of the updated MB are high-range x370 MBs with more features, more 3rd party controllers, more code and more useless graphics and animation (and of course RGB crapware). Cheaper models are not so updated although having less features, less 3rd party controller, less graphics, so less code.
AMD microcode are just a few MBs, everything else is MB and OEM stuff.
