AMD Specs of Ryzen 2000G "Raven Ridge" APUs Revealed

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 01/22/2018 11:28 AM | source: | 22 comment(s)
AMD Specs of Ryzen 2000G

AMD has announced the specifications of two of these APU's: the Ryzen 3 2200G and the Ryzen 5 2400G series. What is interesting to see straight of the bat is that default memory speeds have been bumped upwards to up to 2933 MHz.

Since the APUs graphics engine makes use of that DDR4 memory, this is a clever move, reports computer base. As all AM4 platforms are currently being prepared with Raven Ridge BIOS updates and thus the Ryzen 2000 CPUs as well, the upcoming new processors would launch alongside new X470 motherboards. The motherboard manufacturers claim support speeds of up to 4000 MHz.

The table below gives an overview of the currently known data about the Raven Ridge processors. The 2400G and 2200G are desktop processors, the others are mobile variants.

The released details also confirm that all desktop models will compete with configurable TDP from 45 to 65 watts, and would get bundled with an AMD Wraith Stealth cooler.

Why sell the motherboard? B350 should be compatible with the 2200G, you'll likely just need a BIOS update.

My B350 doesn't have a video output (maybe im wrong let me recheck), and I want to be able to sell my GPU and still have a capable iGPU for overwatch while I wait for a new one

EDIT: Yup, I went full retard, I got a ASRock AB350M which doesn't have a video output. lol

That Ryzen 5 2400G looks tempting. Would like to see a Ryzen 5 2600G with 12 CUs to replace my 1600....

Just looking at the specs ( have touched neither yet...) i would guess that intel i7-8705g will beat the amd 2400g quite soundly, which leads me to believe that amd still has some more apu magic up their sleeve. i cannot imagine them selling intel the means to decimate a whole product line...

considering intel i7-8705g is 65TDP and 2400g is 15, there probably some performance margin, as well as price.
