AMD Shows details new Athlon X2 and X4 processors
AMD has shared the specifications of three new Athlon X2 and X4 processors. Two quad and one dual-core are being presented, these are based on Kaveri architecture, but interestingly enough do not have an integrated GPU (or at least not enabled).
The 28nm processors have Steamroller CPu cores, the Athlon X2 450 has two of these clocked at 3.5GHz with a turbo to 3.9GHz. It has 1 MB L2 cache with a nice 65 Watt TDP. The Athlon X4 840 en 860K have an unlocked multiplier and get 4 MB L2 cache each. The Athlon X4 840 is clocked at 3.1 / 3.8 GHz again with a 65 TDP while the 860K will be clocked at 3.7 / 4 GHz and has a 95 Watt TDP.
AMD does not talk about configurable TDPs, prices are to be announced.
CPU | Cores/ Threads | Clock/ Turbo | L2-cache | Tdp |
---|---|---|---|---|
Athlon X2 450 | 2 / 2 | 3,5 / 3,9 GHz | 1 MB | 65 Watt |
Athlon X4 840 | 4 / 4 | 3,1 / 3,8 GHz | 4 MB | 65 Watt |
Athlon X4 860K | 4 / 4 | 3,7 / 4 GHz | 4 MB | 95 Watt |

The way u make that sound is like the FX naming magically makes it better.
I would very much like to see a x6 of this with more cache, core for core i think the APU's were slightly better anyways and moving these to 28nm though still behind intel is still a nice considering the price difference.
