AMD says it will not support Google Android
AMD needs to set priorities and it seems that Android is not one of them. AMD executive Lisa Su told InfoWorld that the company is betting heavily on Windows 8 as it tries to make an entry in the tablet market. AMD has no plan to support Android, despite Google's OS being the most-widely used operating system in this market, if you exclude Apple's iPad.
Su says the upcoming Temash APU is anticipated to ship in Windows 8 tablets with pricing around $499 to $599.
"We're betting heavily on Windows 8," Su said.
Windows 8 may be off to a slow start, but will catch on in the future, Su said. Windows 8 tablets in many different screen sizes and features will be released in the future, and AMD is interested in higher-end tablets that can run full applications and graphics, Su said.
The company is also not interested in enabling Android tablets at the moment, Su said.
Many popular low-cost tablets such as Google's Nexus 7 and Amazon's Kindle Fire HD, both of which are priced at $199, run on the Android OS. Tablets running Windows RT and Windows 8 largely start at around $499.

lol @ betting heavily at windows 8 when everyone has been talking trash about it.
genius.
"Everyone"
LOL.
Seems ever other thread these days is one about people moaning about yet another AMD decision.
I personally think it is a bad decision, but maybe they know something we don't.
Thing is, while W8 is likely to become quite successful in the desktop market, i just don't see it doing anywhere near as well when it comes to tablets, maybe tablet newcomers who are used to Microsoft might pick something MS based due to the name, but with so many people who have invested time, as well as money in things like apps on the App Store and Google Play, i just don't imagine there being anything but Google/Apple in the future.
Google seems to be quite happy systematically destroying any value (With regards OEMS.) their mobile OS has by releasing very high powered, low priced hardware themselves, thus sticking the bird up to everyone else trying to make money on their ecosystem.
Whats the point in AMD investing in it?

You don't need ARM to run Android. Android, thanks to the Linux kernel, it runs on a plethora of architecture families such as ARM, MIPS, x86 and so on.

Yeah I was pretty much saying that.
