According to the newest leaks, AMD's Threadripper Pro WX or workstation processors will finally join the 5000-series of AMD CPUs. AMD appears to be preparing no less than five additional SKUs, one more than the present 3000-series workstation CPUs.

The new addition is a 24 core, 48 thread chip, which was previously unavailable in the lineup. As a result, the whole series will provide 12, 16, 24, 32, and 64 core variants, each with double the number of threads. The max turbo rate for all processors is 4.5 GHz, although the base clocks vary greatly depending on the number of cores.

The 12 core 5945WX has a base frequency of 4.1 GHz, followed by the 16 core 5955WX at 4 GHz, the 24 core 5965WX at 3.8 GHz, and the 32 core 5975WX at 3.6 GHz. A 64-core 5995WX is believed to have a base frequency of just 2.7 GHz. The TDP of all five CPUs is 280 Watts. The new Threadripper processors are likely to function in existing boards with WRX80 sockets. As a result, PCIe lanes and memory support are likely to stay unchanged from the 3000-series.
