AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX with 32 cores gets listed in Canada webshop (1850 USD)

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX with 32 cores gets listed in Canada webshop (1850 USD)

A Canadian web store is listing a Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX processor and does so for a price of just 2399 CAD, that is 1835 USD converted. Quite a bit of money for sure, but for 32-cores, I mean that's value at less than 58 EUR per core.

The price actually would make sense as it is roughly double that of the 16-core Threadripper 1950X. Of course, with all prices that get listed prior to a release, we're not sure if it'll stick. The 32-core and 64-threads processor is based on a 12nm LP process from GlobalFoundries, also called Zen+.

The 8-core dies are based on what is called Pinnacle Ridge architecture, four of them placed on the multi-core chip package. The new 32-core processor fits into the current SP3 socket with your existing X399 motherboard, accompanied by a firmware update you should be good to go. Again, it has four eight-core dies under that heat spreader, this new 12 nm 8-core "Pinnacle Ridge" dies to bring the advantages of Precision Boost II and XFR 2.0 into play.

The Ryzen Threadripper 2990WX is listed by the webshop with product ID YD299XAZAFWOF. In the specs it is confirmed to be the 32-core part, and being listed with a 250W TDP.

You can rate the articles at the bottom of each one

Correct, users/readers can rate a news item (ever since 2012). And indeed there has been an individual (for months already) that really likes to rate many if not all news items with 1 star, aside from his preferred topics and brand preference.

Glad I still have Warlord blocked. What a complete bag of douche he is.

Man, if only I could get one of these to replace my dual X5550 server with 16 threads lol and 24GB DRR3 1333.

I never really noticed the rating system, to be honest. @Hilbert Hagedoorn if it helps with any sort of statistics, could you perhaps make it more visible?

Anyway, rated 5 stars. Not that this doesn't deserve any less, but I did that just to spite this fellow @warlord. Why not.
