AMD Ryzen CPU Photos Surface
Gotta love the vibe, check the photos after the break. It seems that an OEM or something leaked photos of multiple 12-unit trays of AMD Ryzen processors.
If you look at the photos (courtesy of videocardz) you can see "Ryzen" laser etched onto the heatspreaders (IHS). The processors are showing several products codes so there definitely will be some choices at launch alright. Well it's just pretty pictures of course, have a peek.
Yeah it seems AMD is on a roll, this will be a big launch.

about pins on cpu, well i think no need to concern about it much
to the fact that on most cases, we only plug it once
except you get issue with hardware or mobo that need to be replaced (move the cpu)
even that, the probability damaging the pins is still pretty low, except u are careless person
but i am sure its not going to broken on short drop anyways
but if i buying a $1000+ cpu, well i prefer pins on mobo just simply for "risk-free"
in happen that i damaged pins either it broken or just bent its on mobo that cost less around $500 rather than the $1000+ cpu
i am not sure if damaged pins is covered by warranty or not ?

I would gladly take pins on the CPU over the motherboard any day. Bend a pin on a CPU, use a mechanical pencil or piece of paperboard to fix it. Bend a pin on a motherboard and you're pretty much screwed. Sure, it's harder to bend motherboard pins, but if you manage to bend enough CPU pins for it to be a problem, maybe, just maybe, you're too much of a klutz to be building a PC in the first place.

I got no issue with pins on the CPU in fact I prefer them, the amount of times I've had people bring motherboards to me with flattened pins asking me if I could fix them, it's so much easier to fix the pins on CPU's, the motherboard pins are like hairs and they aren't straight they are at a weird angle so it's absolute pain in the ass to fix, you need mechanical pencils, magnifying glasses and tiny screw drivers, I even made a little custom hook, give me pins on the CPU any day.

Pins on CPU is only a possible issue the moment you install it and when storing extra CPUs (which only geeks like us would do), so not really a major concern.
Pins are safer on the board. Chances of bending them are much higher when on a tiny chip than within a massive motherboard. I suspect the cost isn't really significant either way.
I can throw around Intel chips (well, sort of) but AMD chips will still need to be stored in a custom foam tray, suspended midair in a vacuum at precisely 70.02 degrees fahrenheit to prevent pin damage.
Intel is doing this a little better, AMD should follow suit.
...meanwhile, bring Ryzen on.
