AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D is 6% faster in gaming than Core i9-13900K
If we can believe the reviewer's guide that got leaked today by HD technologica. The highly-anticipated AMD Ryzen 7000X3D processor has been leaked, revealing performance comparisons with the Core i9-13900K.
The leak includes data from a confidential review guide and shows that the flagship Ryzen 9 7950X3D model has been tested against the Core i9-13900K with both Radeon RX 7900 XTX and NVIDIA RTX 4090 GPUs. The new processor boasts an extended L3 cache and is being compared to the original 7950X model without the cache. Given the impressive results from the previous Ryzen 7 5800X3D with Zen3, expectations are high for the new Zen4 desktop processor. While these review guides tend to focus on optimized games and may not represent real-world performance, they offer an early glimpse into the upcoming CPU's capabilities.
The upcoming Ryzen 9 7950X3D processor, outperforms Intel's i9-13900K by 5.6% in 22 games when paired with the Radeon RX 7900 XT. The differences in performance range from 26.9% in Horizon Zero Down to Intel's superiority in games like Far Cry 6.
When paired with an RTX 4090, the Ryzen 9 7950X3D is 6% faster than the i9-13900K and up to 16% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X. However, in multicore performance, Intel comes out on top in almost all tests, including popular ones like Cinebench R23 and Geekbench 5.4. The i9-13900K is also $90 cheaper and a better option for those prioritizing multicore performance. The Ryzen 9 7950X3D may be the better option for gamers with a high-end graphics card, although both the 7950X3D and the 13900K are pricey and not necessary for gaming when a more affordable i5 or Ryzen 5 can suffice. These are official AMD benchmarks, and reviews will provide more insight into the actual performance of the Ryzen 9 7950X3D and its younger sibling, the Ryzen 9 7900X3D.
Next week, Ryzen 9 7950X3D will go on sale for $699. This is how much the 7950X CPU cost when it first came out last year. However, that AMD CPU is now much cheaper and can be found for around $589. The Intel Core i9-13900K costs $569,-

The X3D parts seem good for people who don't know how to overclock and tune memory.
Non-overclockers, might be able to just stick a 5600 MT/s kit and still have great performance.
But for people that know their stuff about OC, like you, a 13900 will be the better choice.
I used to spend painstaking hours manually testing memory timings for stability -- I just can't be bothered anymore. Not only because of the time required but also because in my experience even if the OC is completely stable it may still wind up shortening the life of the part and that's something I don't want. Have had too many parts fail within a 1-2 year window.
These days I just run things at stock as they were factory tested to work and if I want a faster part then I buy it. Seems like the 13900K is thermally limited more than anything else in the tests I've seen -- even with a very good cooling setup the thing will rocket to 100 degrees then it has to scale back its clocks. Perhaps it would be a good candidate for undervolting?

Just one more week to find out, but it might be less exciting than 5800X3D.

To people saying "16% faster than the Ryzen 9 7950X": you missed the part with "up to". And with "up to" and "These are official AMD benchmarks" taken in consideration the whole picture is not so sunny for them. My wife has a 3950X and I am waiting for these reviews to decide what to buy between the 13900k, 7950X or 7950X3D but right now I am more inclined towards 7950X only because I hate the hybrid arch Intel nonsense otherwise it would have been 13900k all the way. 7950X3D doesn't look good if these are AMD official benchmarks.

I am looking forward to 7950x 3d tests with cores disabled to simulate a 7800x 3d.
If I can get close to a top trimmed 13900k in gaming performance for a good price and keep my old aircooler it would be nice and cheap.

That 7950x3d was compared against a 13900k at stock clocks with low memory speeds of ddr5-6000Mhz. Now i wish they did the same test with the 13900k overclocked to 5.7~6.0Ghz and ddr5-7200~8200Mhz and i bet onced tuned and overclocked that 13900k will have the lead
It seems to me the one to get is the 7800x3d , that one the price will be more reasonable and a good cpu. Not bad for gaming for just adding 3D cache.
