AMD Ryzen 9 3900X Spotted Priced Far Under 500 USD, even 389 USD

If there is one processor that can frustrate the 10 gen i9-10900K and i7-10700K a bit, it's the Ryzen 9 3900X. Now it's not confirmed just yet, but the 3900X has been selling for well below 430 USD in the USA. Here in the EU the prices for that processor have been lower as well, quite a while already.

If you read our reviews, the 3900X is battling the new 488 USD (msrp) Core i9-10900K quite well, the proc is currently listed at 529 USD in most stores. The 3900X processor is fast and agile, at 499 USD (msrp) the 10900K is fighting off that close to similar priced Ryzen 9 3900X, which offers two more cores at 12-cores.

In the EU the prices however already gradually been dropping towards a level of 429 USD. New rumors indicate prices are set at 409 USD in the USA already as well. Some stores like Microcenter already offer the 3900X at a staggering 389 USD, these are models that include a WRAITH cooler. You do need to pick it up though. The rest is

We'll see how long Intel's pricing will hold up, as it seems the CPU market is getting cutthroat. Below the price development in the EU for that 12-core Ryzen 3900X:

Amazon USA 3900x is $419, was $409 yesterday. I expect it to bounce around.

Amazon USA 10900k is $799 cheapest, thru outside vender.

Price in canada (Newegg.ca)

10900x : 1199$ CAD
3900x: 649$ CAD

I know 10900x is better for gaming but my god the price will need to come down by at least 400$ CAD.

No, it won't.
AMD barely nudged to support 400 series with Zen3, and that with lots of conditions.
300 will be totally unsupported, even the highest end X370 boards.

It will be time to upgrade, really.

(I have one too, and will swap out CPU+Mobo after Zen 3 comes out, and also buy some PCI-e 4.0 SSD at that time, but until then I'll be sticking with X370, like you)
The good part is that I will keep my overclocker-friendly memory ( Micron E-die, so who knows what 4000+ MT/s will Zen3 IMC support ? That will be nice ! )

I don't think so. I'll grab a 3900x toward the end at it's lowest price point (hoping to eventually grab it at 500$ CAD). It's good enough for at least 2-3 years easily. It will remain a dominant home consumer workstation cpu for a while (my main use case) and will be good enough for my casual gaming very easily.

I'll upgrade when DDR 5 and PCIe 4 will be standard. I got no reason to update my x370 mobo for now.

Hahaha my bad forgot about the x series. Hate when companies reuse number like that. Yeah the 10900k is 800$ CAD on Newegg.ca. Makes more sense.
