AMD's Ryzen 7040 Series Phoenix APUs are yet to be officially unveiled, but a new SKU, the Ryzen 5 7540U, has been spotted online.

This 6-core/12-thread processor utilizes AMD's Zen 4 architecture and features an RDNA3 iGPU. It is expected to accompany the Ryzen 5 7640U and Ryzen 7 7840U in the lineup. At present, the total number of SKUs in the Ryzen 7040 U-Series remains unclear, but leaks have revealed three so far. The series is anticipated to cater to the thin and light market segment, with a TDP range of 15 W to 28 W. AMD also plans to launch the non-U Phoenix 7040 series APUs, targeting the 35 W - 45 W "thin enthusiast" HS-series and the "ultra-enthusiast" HX-series segments with the recently introduced 7045 Series Dragon Range APUs.

Benchmark results indicate that two systems, the Lenovo LNVNB161216 and ASUS ROG Flow X13, have incorporated the Ryzen 5 7540U processor. The Bepco benchmark suite has accurately identified the product name, implying an imminent release. The Ryzen 5 7540U features the lowest tier iGPU discovered so far, with a Radeon 740M graphics card
