If you've been waiting for processor prices to drop, not might be a good week. The Ryzen 7000 series of processors has been available since the latter part of September. Because to its dependence on DDR5, the platform was relatively expensive.

For the first time in years, AMD released a brand new platform in September with Zen 4 and AM5. DDR5 memory is a key component of the AM5 architecture. Despite conforming to the most recent standard, the manufacturer has raised the price of the socket. Because cheaper DDR4 can also be used in this case, the AM5 architecture has a tough time competing with the Raptor Lake CPUs. To counteract this, AMD might have reduced the pricing of all Ryzen 7000 versions. In instance, the Ryzen 9 7950X has seen a price drop of 130 Euros in the space of a week. This means the CPU can be had for "only" 649 Euros. Here is how the 7950X's price has evolved:

With the price drop and the trend toward cheaper motherboards, AMD's AM5 platform should be competitive again. Presently, the least expensive AM5 boards cost less than 200 EUR. As is well-known from AM4, no extremely low-priced models are now available.

Ryzen 7 7700 at 379 EUR.

Other processors like the 7900X can be spotted for 519 EUR and the 7600
