AMD Ryzen 5 3500 spotted: Six Cores but no SMT (updated)
From the looks of things, AMD is to complement its Ryzen 3000 line-up with another six-core. The Ryzen 5 3500 is running 3.6 GHz for a base clock with a 4.1 Ghz Turbo, it, however, lacks Hyperthreading (SMT) and thus is a six-thread processor.
AMD's Ryzen 3000 processors have been making news offering high performance and value for money. The R5 3600's little sister. With 3.6 GHz, it offers an identical base clock as its little sister, but it does not get SMT. In boost mode, it also 'only' reaches 4.1 GHz. In terms of price, the new CPU should rank in a price range of roughly 150 to 200 euros as the R5 3600 is offered for ~210 euros, (already available at online retailers under 200 euros).
Update September 25th, 2019 - the processor has once again surfaced, this time in an Asian store. The Ryzen 5 3500X again was listed at a maximum clock speed of 4.1 GHz. The CPU is in the store for 1099 yuan, converted around 140 euros. On the Vietnam AMD red team fan club a photo appeared as well.

Seems that having SMT off gives more fps in a lot of games :p
Looks like 2~10% fps difference. So, disabling SMT puts those chips on intel's performance spot since their numbers indicate such difference.
Seems like scheduling sometimes puts second load on core that can't immediately be executed.
May be solved by windows in time or by Zen 3 since that is likely to have SMT4 on servers and therefore desktops with SMT2 enabled will benefit from architecture that has enough improvements to extract something meaningful from SMT4.

9600k will kill this thing @gaming....same with an 8600k
When you lower the core count on ryzen it no longer shines.
9600k costs more than 3600. There ia no real value there.

Wouldn't it be interesting to compare this new six-core with the old Phenom II 1100T paired with 1600 MHz DDR3 memory and a 2400 to 2600 MHz northbridge overclock on a Asus Crosshair V or an Asus Sabertooth 990FX based board to see how times has changed?

When You lower the core speed on Intel it no longer shines....
So? Every company has it's own aproach.

IPC for Zen 2 definitely has increased. On top of that, games that only take advantage of 6 cores this will have no problem.

Even the i5 9400f is more expensive than this. People forget the pricing is the key here.

You'd have no issues going Coffee Lake or Zen 2 for a few good years.

I saw that @Loophole35 was selling it at the great price but you'll need expensive motherboard and good cooling if you want those clocks he was running it. You have a chance here for the even lower price get a brand new 3600X where you dont need WC and Z board. Think twice before you act.

Yeah to get 5.0Ghz he will need a D15s or a 240mm AIO but on a Hyper 212+ or something 4.8 is very doable. If he can find a z370 prime from ASUS and some 3200 G.Skill RAM those should cost about $220 together.

Hell this will dissipate 160W for $50 thats more than enough to run the 8700k at 5.0Ghz
