AMD Ryzen 3000 Matisse Spotted - 12 Cores 24 Threads
It has been a busy week for Tum Apisak hunting down the hidden gems in databases. This round he found an interesting AMD engineering sample processor, while he is not speculating, that database entry surely looks like a 12C/24T Third-Gen AMD Ryzen 'Matisse' processor.
Matisse is one of the codenames for 7nm Ryzen 3000 aka Zen2. Albeit AMD is hinting at 8-CPU cores, we've already demonstrated that an extra die proc can be placed onto the package. Tum Apisak, and from now on let's call him the local online database miner, posted a tweet that he had found a benchmark of an AMD engineering sample with 12 cores and 24 threads.
What's so interesting is that the UserBenchmark database entry is listing product code 2D3212BGMCWH2_37 / 34_N. That H2 in the code is indicative for a Matisse processor. The benchmark is listing a base clock speed of 3.4 GHz and an average boost clock speed of 3.6 GHz (remember it is an engineering sample). The platform used is new also, as the motherboard is using an AMD Myrtle-MTS based chipset. The processor is listed having a 105 watts TDP and 32 MB of L3 cache. Interesting, but let's see the 8-core parts first shall we.
Coincidentally (well not) the latest version of AIDA now 'physically' supports AMD Matisse. Exciting times are ahead though.
Photoshopped example of a two die placement which can handle up to 16 cores and 32 threads.

What kind of improvement you expect from DDR5 to wait around 1.5~2 years for it?

Yeah, moving up one memory generation does rarely in itself much at all.
I just moved to DDR4.
I hope for an 8 core Ryzen at 4.8Ghz as rumored.
It will be a lot faster than anything put in the new consoles.
