AMD Radeon RX 570 And RX 580 GPUs Sold Out Due Cryptocurrency Mining
Last week at Computex I have been speaking with a number of board partners, all of them pretty much said the same, AMD RX 570 and 580 cards are mainly sold out in Polaris SKUS (RX 570/580) due to a large demand in Cryptocurrency GPU based Mining.
An example here would be Ethereum and Bitcoin, the value has gone through the roof and if that value is high. Bitcoin has risen to a 160%+ value this year. Right now it is touching 3000 USD. That made it interesting to mine bitcoins on capable affordable GPUs. Currently most if not all AMD Radeon RX 570 as well as RX 580 GPUs are sold out at the big etailers. I just check the USA and EU, it's pretty much the same everywhere - sold out.
Miners make use of GPUs from AMD and Nvidia in order to mine new coins and AMD GPUs especially are interesting. Once you mine a coin they can be used for selling purposes or kept for further appreciation (or depreciation - hey it's gotta happen at one point).
An AMD spokesperson wrote to CNBC stating: The gaming market remains our priority. We are seeing solid demand for our Polaris-based offerings in the gaming and newly resurgent cryptocurrency mining markets based on the strong performance we are delivering. The AMD RX 570 and RX 580 GPUs are out of stock and there is little information regarding when the new shipments will be hitting the market.

Even when you find them they aren't cheap. Was looking to pick up another 480, but Newegg has them prices well above their retail price or they don't have them at all.

Ethereum is what GPU miners are mining, basically mine Ethereum then trade to BTC.

Huh well what do you know, just checked some of the digital stores I tend to use and yeah most of them are indeed unavailable waiting for more to be delivered by the manufacturer.
Only the Sapphire 580 Nitro+ 4GB model seem to have any availability at all.
(Some dozen GPU's in stock but that's probably changing soon too.)
EDIT: So is that good for AMD? It's selling out after all.
Of course for resales that's driving prices up and availability is currently limited, doesn't look good for Vega when that's getting released does it?
(Though it seems availability for that might already be pretty limited for other reasons.)

even old cards like 290 to 390X are hard to find. They are all in miners.
And quite ironically I want to buy a few to build my own ETHminer.
Should be a few months to a year before PoS takes over.
