AMD Radeon R9 370X launches
Pitcairn, welcome back old friend. Next to today's paper launch of the Radeon R9 Nano, AMD also introduced the Radeon R9 370X. Have a read as the specs obviously will not surprise you or at the very least, will sound familiar.
The Radeon R9 370X is a new model to is positioned against the GeForce GTX 950 and GTX 960, a product in the sub-$200 bracket. Radeon R9 370X houses a 28 nm "Trinidad XT" silicon. The silicon offers 1280 stream processors, 80 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit wide GDDR5 memory interface, holding either 2 GB or 4 GB of memory.
Yes that would be the familiar part.

It's basically a 7870, which was renamed 270X and it had some higher clocks.
370X is a higher clocked 270X with better efficiency than either 270X or 7870 because of the more efficient GDDR5 ram modules AMD used for all 300 series.
Still an awesome card.

*gasp* don't take our savior's name in vain! He took a meteor for our sins!
On a more serious note though - AMD needs to drop the X suffix. It's unnecessary and they have to keep filling in all the gaps with 3-year-old rebrands.

Amd and its competitor just can´t take entry level pc gaming to the next level... so boring and so disappointing for the supposed leaders in graphics tech.

While they are at the X business, they should release a 380X with the GCN 1.2 architecture and 4GB of memory, and I'd finally have a card to buy. I'm sure they could pull it off with their experience gained from the original Tonga and now Fiji.
