AMD Quietly Intros 95W Phenom II X4 945

by Hilbert Hagedoorn on: 07/23/2009 04:06 PM | source: | 0 comment(s)

Hah .. nobody hardly noticed this.  AMD really quietly released another processor.

The name might sound familiar, but the TDP if this Phenom II X4 945 quad-core processor is much lower. The processor SKU code is "HDX945WFK4DGI" and this Phenom II X4 945 comes with a 95W TDP (peak wattage), the normal version is 125W.

The processor is of course based on the 45 nm Deneb core, in the AM3 package, the Phenom II X4 945 has an operating frequency of 3.00 GHz, 3.6 GT/s HyperTransport 3.0 system interface, 512 KB L2 cache per core, and a 6 MB shared L3 cache. It supports DDR2 and DDR3 memory standards.

This however is not a BE edition, and has the bus multiplier locked at a maximum of 15.0x. Andf yes, that will hinder overclocking. The suggested retail price is US $225.
