AMD Naples 32-core Zen-Processors photos

AMD next year will release the Naples server CPU. This is a model with an amazing 32 cores and 64 threads, and is based on Zen architecture. AMD has the means to seriously compete with Intel in the server market with this processor.

The highest positioned Intel processor E7 8890 v4, has 24 cores and 48 threads (but is working on Skylake-EP with 32 cores) . Apparently last month AMD submitted some engineering samples to partners, and now images have surfaced on the web through wccftech.

The images below show a compact server configuration with active cooling AND two Zen CPUs, each with 32 cores. So yes you are looking at a 64 cores and 128 threads  configuration there. Also it should be noted that the photos reveal two Radeon Pro GPUs. You can immediately recognize the large Naples-chip configured and setup as LGA-configuration (not PGA which we have seen from the previous gen AMD server processors. The CPU has a large Naples-L3-cache, which is 512 MB.

These 32-core processors should only have a 180W TDP.

Yeah, but with each core running at 150Mhz. :)

minehunter & solitaire can both be run at 60fps...at the same time!!!

I'm interested in the one with the 1024-core GPU built in :P

But that picture has the pins on the CPU, isn't the pins supposed to be located on the socket for LGA?

PGA is pins on CPU, LGA is pins in socket
