Bigger L3 caches do offer their advantages, you've read our Ryzen 7 5800X3D review? Well, it  could be that AMD will add models like a Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 9 5900X3D, or maybe even the 5950X3D.

Even though it is built on the aging Zen 3 microarchitecture, the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 8-core processor's innovative 3D Vertical Cache, which made gaming much faster and put it in the same league as Intel's fastest 12th Gen Core "Alder Lake" CPUs. The "Milan-X" EPYC business processors from AMD all feature the same 8-core 3DV Cache chiplet (CCD).  AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X3D with layered 3D V-Cache is one of the fastest gaming CPUs currently available and has demonstrated the viability of the concept. This is accompanied by disadvantages such as limited overclocking and voltage adjustment, but AMD appears to be committed to the concept for the foreseeable future, although it is unclear whether processors with 3D V cache will also be launched directly onto the market when the new AM5 platform is released.

A possible Ryzen 5 5600X3D would include a single CCD together with 32 MiB of conventional L3 cache and 64 MiB of V-cache. Ryzen 9 machines, which would represent the most potent phases of socket AM4, contain two CCDs, allowing them to receive 64 MiB of standard L3 cache and 128 MiB of V-cache, respectively. However, AMD may potentially equip only one of the CCDs with a V-Cache, resulting in a constellation of 128 MiB L3 cache as opposed to 192 MiB, while still maintaining a strong gaming performance.

The rumor is that the success might result in SKUs such as the Ryzen 5 5600X3D, Ryzen 9 5900X3D, and possibly even the 5950X3D, the latter two of which feature an incredible 200 MB of Total Cache (L2+L3). For the 5950X3D, we doubt it due to the two processor die's eating up all real estate and inter connect lanes needed on the chip. This lineup could expand, and information about it is anticipated to be released in July, but for now, it's merely a rumor though.
