It has been a long time coming but we take a look at early and initial Mantle performance. The upcoming 14.1 Beta driver will receive many improvements. At the simplest level, Mantle is an Application Programming Interface (API). In its current iteration, the Mantle API leverages the hardware in the Graphics Core Next architecture (GCN) of modern AMD Radeon.

As someone who is on both sides of the fence...the results aren't bad....however it still doesn't shutout Directx...imo in the upcoming year or so Directx should receive similar if not more of boost in performance....again the only downside to mantle right now.

The results are better than what I expected. Even on enthusiast hardware it will be of use to squeeze a little bit more quality out of a Mantle game and maybe while keeping the frame rate.

So I can expect 5-10 fps boost at 1920x1200 in bf4 then
