According to a report on Digitimes AMD's Kaveri-based APUs are unlikely to show up in the market until February 2014 as mass production will not be ready until the end of 2013, according to sources from PC players.

AMD originally expected to start supplying its Heterogeneous System Architecture (HAS) Kaveri APUs in the second half of 2013, but according to the company's latest plans, the CPU maker will only provide two A10 and one A8 APU pilot production samples to its clients in December 2013, indicating that Kaveri APU-based PC products may have difficulties showing up in the retail channel before April 2014, the sources said.

AMD declined to comment on unannounced products.

In the first half of 2014, AMD plans to release two more HSA-based APU series: Berlin for server products and Beema, to replace the existing Kabini APU series. In 2015, AMD will release Carizo and Nolan APU series to replace Kaveri and Beema, respectively, both featuring HSA.

AMD founded the HSA Foundation in June 2012, aiming to push a standard for coordination between CPU and GPU computing to enhance PC performance. Members of the foundation include ARM, Imagination Technologies, MediaTek, Texas Instruments, Samsung Electronics and Qualcomm.
