apples to oranges. 6700k is 4c/8t, Zen is 8c/16t
True, but price point is where this is going to determine how successful Zen is. If an 8 core Zen costs the same or less than a 6700k, one would assume the Zen would be a hit.
If that's also meant for single core performance then it could be, what's current Fx8350 single core cinebench15 scenario? 2x, you get final score..
Edit, looked around and found this passmark
Passmark
AMD FX-8370 Eight-Core (Orochi)
1,515
so around 2.7 if its not 100% scaling and that makes it faster then
Intel Core i7-4790K @ 4.00GHz
2,529
Intel Core i7-6700K @ 4.00GHz
2,329

If this is true, then yes it would be over Skylake even. But AMD has said that about Bulldozer over K10 as well.

Ok found one review with cinebench15 single threaded
Amd fx 3850: 98, best case scenario 196cb.. For example I get 194cb at 4.7Ghz
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-intel-skylake-core-i5-6600k-review
So even if its ~ 186 it would be fast, Oc and ~200cb for sure

best case scenario would be then 196 @ 4.2. It would be great actually. Doubt it will happen but would be great.

I think it's more like ~160 with +60% IPC; and double in multi threading compared to fx8350, if it's 8c/16t.
