AMD announced new Ryzen 7000 series processors (without the X) variant. The new update is not designed for extreme performance and comes with a much more reasonable thermal design power (TDP) of 65W. AMD introduces three distinct models: the Ryzen 9 7900, Ryzen 7 7700, and the Ryzen 5 7600 SKU.
The most noticeable change between the new and old versions, besides the clock frequency multipliers, will be the default power of those components, which will be decreased TDP towards 65W.
Yes, three CPUs, including the atypical Ryzen 9 7900. That CPU, which has 12 cores and a boost rate of 5.4 GHz, is 200 MHz less powerful than the X variant. Buying this processor will cost you $429, a savings of $120 compared to the going rate for similar products. Furthermore, the 8-core Ryzen 7 7700 is said to have a boost speed of 5.3 GHz, which is only 100 MHz slower than the X variant. The MSRP of $329, representing a $70 USD discount, also appears to be an excellent deal. The 6-core Ryzen 5 7600 is said to cost $229, which is $70 less than the X variant. If you wanted to get this device up to its maximum frequency of 5.1 GHz, you'd have to sacrifice 200 MHz of boost frequency. These processors, which are brand new in the non-X series, all have their multipliers unlocked.
Starting next week AMD will make the three processors based on that 65W TDP available.
