Updated: AMD AM5 based Ryzen processor slated for later this year (Raphael ZEN4)

First up would be a Ryzen CPU fitted with 3D V-Cache. The Ryzen 7 5800X3D will be launched in Spring 2022 and would offer to be a beast of a gaming processor. AMD mentions that later this year parts will use the Zen4 5nm process and will require the new AM5 socket (and thus a new chipset and motherboard).

Ryzen 5000 processors (Vermeer+)  with 3D V-Cache incorporate a cache chiplet located north of the computing chiplets. it is estimated to offer a performance boost of roughly 15% seen from the normal processors. We'll Likely see more about this chip in Spring say late March. The version of the Ryzen 7 5800X thus is called 'Ryzen 7 5800X3D'.

Next on the slide you can see a new LGA-based socket, Ryzern 6000. You'll see DDR5 memory and PCI-Express Gen 5 expansion support here as well. These processors' CCDs are fabricated on the TSMC N5 (5 nm) node and as mentioned above, "Zen 4" microarchitecture. A leaked slide shows a hazy image of Socket AM5, which features a retention mechanism similar to those found on the Intel platform.

Despite the AM5 socket, and would retain cooler compatibility with AM4. AMD's ZEn4 launch date has been pushed out to the second half of 2022. Interesting small fact, look at the Ryzen 6000 heat spreader, it contains gaps. likely here capacitors are placed, as they cannot reside under the heat spreader. So under the heat spreader a lot of real estate is used.

Update: here is part of the press release. And images updated with the originals.

The livestream also introduced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D desktop processor, the industry’s first consumer PC processor to feature 3D-stacked chiplets to deliver a significant increase in gaming performance. Dr. Su also shared a preview of AMD’s upcoming Ryzen 7000 Series desktop processor planned to launch in the second half of 2022 based on the next-generation 5nm “Zen 4” CPU core and the new Socket AM5 platform, which features an LGA socket and includes support for PCI-Express 5.0 and DDR5 memory.

“We are excited to start the year launching more than 30 new processors that push the envelope in high-performance computing for every segment of the PC market,” said Dr. Su. “Our newest Ryzen and Radeon processors significantly expand our leadership product offerings, bringing more performance, new features and differentiated experiences to gamers, creators and professionals. 2022 looks to be another exceptionally strong year for the PC industry and for AMD.”
