AMD 8-core Ryzen Processor spotted running 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz Turbo

AMD 8-core Ryzen Processor spotted running 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz Turbo

Admittedly, AMD Ryzen is certainly looking better with each day that passes. Over at CES there are demo systems running and they run 8-core Ryzen Processors with a 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz Turbo.

Previously AMD openly announced a minimal base clock of 3.4 GHz, and that was merely weeks ago. Apparently the new demo systems at CES are revision 3 of the processor, even more intersting is that french based Canard PC already is mentioning a revision 4 with a Turbo at 4.0 GHz (and a 3.6 GHz base).

  • @Dresdenboy F4 is already here @ 3.6/4.0

Nothing is officially confirmed by AMD I guess, but the guys from HardwareLuxx managed to snag a photo of that third iteration, click on the thumbnail to enlarge and to see that aforementioned 3.9 GHz turbo, as that is looking mighty interesting :)

To the best of my knowledge there has not been an official launch date yet. I'm hoping that we will get one announced by the end of CES. At this point, Q1 2017 is all we know.

Thanks for replying Elder III, it's going to be so weird to see a new amd chipset on the shelfs lol, It's been Am3+ Fm2 for the past 4-5 years, and they are always on the bottom of the shelf/ Cheper alternative to intel. Can't wait for the ryzen launch fun times ahead Iam hoping. I think some of us including myself have been a little harsh against Intel, we're so quick to call them out and complain, let's not forget they were the only ones who filled the gap while amd has been sleeping since Fx release. Lol

If the TDP is really 95W, that is going to be one of the biggest surprises of this release.

It is, he's just talking rubbish.
I mean why would AMD say it in the first place, also earlier ES lower clocks don't matter.

Skylake or Haswell ES had 2.4Ghz and 95w TDP and you see what's final speed at same TDP.

4core 8threads ryzen with just 65W TDP.

If there is a 6 core 12 thread version coming out, Ill upgrade. I cant afford to go 8 core Zen anytime soon. I will never go back to another 4 core 8 thread cpu. My last 2 have been 6 core 12 thread cpus.

Apparently it will be too, and quite cheap..

Intel and AMD calculate TDP differently, you can't compare them directly. AMDs New Horizon blender demo showed that.. 6900K is 140w and Zen is supposedly 95 yet the 6900K was only a couple watts more in that test.
