AMD 8-core Ryzen Processor spotted running 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz Turbo
Admittedly, AMD Ryzen is certainly looking better with each day that passes. Over at CES there are demo systems running and they run 8-core Ryzen Processors with a 3.6 GHz base and 3.9 GHz Turbo.
Previously AMD openly announced a minimal base clock of 3.4 GHz, and that was merely weeks ago. Apparently the new demo systems at CES are revision 3 of the processor, even more intersting is that french based Canard PC already is mentioning a revision 4 with a Turbo at 4.0 GHz (and a 3.6 GHz base).
- @Dresdenboy F4 is already here @ 3.6/4.0
Nothing is officially confirmed by AMD I guess, but the guys from HardwareLuxx managed to snag a photo of that third iteration, click on the thumbnail to enlarge and to see that aforementioned 3.9 GHz turbo, as that is looking mighty interesting :)

To the best of my knowledge there has not been an official launch date yet. I'm hoping that we will get one announced by the end of CES. At this point, Q1 2017 is all we know.
When is the Official launch date for Zen? Meaning when can we go to Micro center and pick one up?

How on earth can you even say that without first knowing the prices.
I think there will be many versions of the 8/16 and the bottom one might be affordable. Maybe they start out as 3.4 chips all the way up to 4.0.
So you buy the Ryzen 8/16 3.4 @ 200 pound and OC it up a little.
It'll be between 200-300 pound btw cause i have my sources.
200-300 POUNDS??? DAMN!
If its true on the performance we have seen on the tech demos, at 4ghz, and the price of these nasty bad boys, and performance comparable to the expensive intel cpu, then there absolutely no question at this very moment, amd may take the crown back, I remember owning both p4 and amd athlon 64, and the athlon was the gaming choice at that time, f'in smoked the intel.
An athlon x64 @ 2.4ghz smoked the p4 3.6-3.8ghz range.
Can't wait for Mr. Hilbert himself doing benches on these bad boys, along with vega.
This may be AMD's year, just gotta wait and see.

hmmmm.....
if this can compete with broadwell-e/skylake for IPC and overclock to at the very least 4.5GHz with relative ease. I would love to ditch Intel and jump onto an AMD platform.
Hilbert come on dude, can't you tease us with anything?

Still a little underwhelmed at the chipset but the processor is looking the part. Can't wait to see boss mans review.
From the pictures it looks like the same retainers as AM2/AM2+/AM3/AM3+.
The sockets are longer sadly for AM4 with the same same design as before.
